Sometimes listing agents need to make some visual design changes to make a home more appealing to today’s home buyers. Often, it is a matter of making the house feel younger and fresher. If the home sellers have been in their home for 10+ years, chances are their furniture and accessories can make a home buyer feel like there is a lot more work to be done in the house than is actually necessary. This is not a negative reflection on the home sellers in any way. It is the result that today’s home buyers grew up on HG TV and homes that are staged to look more like their modern tastes and sensibilities sell faster and for a lot more money. Its business pure and simple.
Some home design makeovers we do ourselves. Some require a professional stager to consult and/or bring in furniture and accessories. There are 5 key components to freshening up a home before putting it on the market.:
- Fresh interior paint- preferably in cooler hues like light blues and grays with white trim
- Clean wood floors
- Think less is more – no clutter
- Pops of color using accents – good ways to do this are with pillows, lamps and throws
- Master bedroom – must feel indulgent, spa like and luxurious. Keep it neutral – neither too masculine nor feminine
The following videos are actual examples of how we successfully made over homes so they became more appealing to buyers.
